Front month Brent crude closed at a 53 month low of $36.61 on 24 December 2008, down 75% from it's record high of $147.23 in July 2008.  Since July, Brent crude has declined sharply, with financial market turmoil, a reversal of the dollar's previous declines and oil demand destruction the key drivers.
